Daniel crafts his pipes using Extra Plateau Grade Italian Briar cut by the master Claudio Manno. Sourced from Sicily and processed in Tuscany, Manno briar is world-renowned for its light color and stunning grain patterns, which he procures through the experts at Vermont Freehand.

While he frequently experiments with natural materials like horn and exotic hardwoods, he has most recently been working with premium Japanese Ebonite (Nikko grade)—widely considered the finest in the world for its deep, lasting luster and comfortable feel. Some of Daniel’s older pipes feature a pre-molded German Vulcanite stem, but his newer pipes are hand shaped on a lathe from their original rod form, unless otherwise specified.
Daniel’s handmade stems feature a tenon made of Japanese ebonite that is separately hand-turned, drilled, and secured using a high-strength, two-part epoxy. This ensures a precise, airtight fit. Each tenon is custom made for each individual pipe. Filter sizes vary.

Daniel believe a high-grade pipes deserve high-grade accents, which is why he has a strict rule: He never uses imitations. You won’t find "faux" horn or "synthetic" wood on his work. If a pipe features a horn accent, it is genuine horn; if it features Boxwood, it is the real, dense timber.
While he occasionally use high-quality acrylics or plastics for specific aesthetic pops, they are chosen for their own merits—never to masquerade as a natural material.
Each pipe is individually numbered and hand-signed, allowing you to track your specific piece within his strictly limited body of work (less than 30 made in 2025). Every pipe made after March 1st, 2026 is paired with a hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity in the form of the signed original hand-drawn pencil sketch that Daniel created for the design and kept pinned to his workshop wall throughout the entire crafting process. You can purchase Daniel’s pipes locally at Indian River Tobacco & Fine Cigars in Grand Rapids, Michigan, or via online order.
